Paradigm is the name of two delightful luxury self-catering properties in the Lake District, comprising a renovated farmhouse and hay barn. Each property - The House and The Barn - sleeps up to four people. We cater for Full Week bookings or Short Breaks year round.

We occasionally have last minute self-catering too, so do contact us if you are unsure.  Alternatively, you can stay at our third property - Honister Cottage - (just click on Honister Cottage from the menu at the top.)

Originally built in the 1720's, the two Paradigm properties are situated in the tranquil northern Lake District in six acres of idyllic and peaceful private land. Set amongst lawns, orchards, woodland and a natural 60-foot waterfall, there is space to roam; yet you are only four miles from the market town of Cockermouth (birthplace of William Wordsworth) and 13 miles from the popular visitor spot of Keswick.

From the doorstep, you can enjoy some of the finest Lakeland fell walks and mountain biking routes. Sailing, Via Ferrata and other activities are all close by. All those booking a stay at Paradigm automatically claim one free adult ticket for the Via Ferrata. This is a hugely-popular cliff-edge walking/scrambling experience run at the  nearby Honister Slate Mine and the only one of its type in the UK. Just this summer it was named Best Tourism Experience in the Lake District in the 2011 Cumbria Tourism Awards. Due to the popularity of the Via Ferrata this ticket is non-reedemable.

For a gentler break, you can soothe away your aches by relaxing in our fabulous outdoor hot tub under the stars looking over the valley. 

In the evening, enjoy your pre-ordered meal which Jan, your host, will discretely leave in the oven for you to serve at your leisure. Accompany it with a chilled glass of champagne that we will leave in your welcome hamper along with some of the finest Lake District foods to help start your stay. Our most recent self-catering property and the third in our collection is "Honister Cottage" a 400-year-old miner's cottage in the heart of Wainwright walking country. It's located in the tiny hamlet of Seatoller in the Borrowdale Valley near Keswick.  Awarded Five Stars by Visit Britain in 2011, it sleeps upto six guests and you can bring one well behaved dog too! We even give them a welcome doggy-bag!
